Senior Team Update

2023-01-20

Hello Senior Team Families,

This season has certainly thrown us a curveball and on behalf of the Board of Directors and coaching staff we thank you all for commitment to the club and pivoting to meet the athletes' needs.

We do recognize that with all of this change and uncertainty it has left families feeling a degree of anxiety or uncertainty with the direction of the programming this season. The weather has dealt Nova Scotia a series of blows that have left all 3 of the clubs in the province scrambling to deal with.

Despite these challenges, WSRC has been the only club to pivot and offer secondary training options for our senior and U12 athletes. These training options will allow our athletes to compete and stay engaged with the sport. Both the coaching leadership team as well as the BOD are committed to our club's mantra - Athlete Focused/Coach Supported/Board Driven - and I am proud of what the team has been able to pull together to accomplish.

With that in mind, I do want to remind members that the BOD is a group of volunteer parents. Parents who, like you, typically have full time jobs and have many competing priorities. With this in mind, we want to set expectations that we will require at least 24 hours to respond to email concerns or general feedback. Ensuring our responses to you are accurate and well informed can take time.

Please funnel all concerns or feedback to admin@wentworthracing.com. We have increased the number of board members who will be managing this account to ensure the timeliness of our response, and we work to ensure you have a response within 24 to 48 hours.

We ask that you do this rather than reaching out to the coaching staff directly at this time. Given the amount of programming changes and what we are asking from the coaching staff, the BOD would like to give them the time and space to allow for planning the best possible training opportunities for the athletes.

We also ask that concerns be emailed rather than added to the WhatsApp chat to avoid the added confusion of having multiple parties attempt to address the concerns in real time.

Our team is also planning a “Brunch and Learn” for our new senior team families on January 28th, 9:30AM - 11:00AM hosted by the Cooke family at their cottage. This will be an informal learning/social setting that will help our new families learn the ropes of supporting their senior team athlete.

We have an exciting weekend ahead and we hope you will join us in focusing on the positive -  athletes will be back on snow!

Sincere thanks for your patience and cooperation,

Katie Hilton
Vice-President
WSRC Board of Directors
