Registration Open for Senior Team Training Opportunity at Mont Farlagne Friday, Jan 20 - Sunday, Jan 22

2022-01-01

Hello Senior Team Families,

The warm weather conditions have presented a number of challenges for this year’s training and race schedule.

Our Coaches and the Board have been exploring options to help athletes meet the minimum training requirements to compete. We know this is short notice but we hope you understand the weather hasn’t been on our side. Moving dates for races can be a challenge given the impact on the overall race schedule for the region as well as other events and activities that may be hosted at Ski Wentworth. There are only so many days available to work with.

With all this in mind, we are pleased to offer the following training opportunity through WSRC to help athletes ensure they have the minimum three days of training in gates in order to compete:

Senior Team Training Opportunity at Mont Farlagne Friday, Jan 20 - Sunday, Jan 22

We have reserved lane space at Mont Farlagne. The plan will be to train Slalom on Friday and GS on Saturday and Sunday, concluding at 2:30 PM.

We will offer a two day and three day option.

Two Day Camp (Saturday & Sunday): $250

Three Day Camp (Weekend plus Friday): $295

Families would be responsible for their own lodging, travel, food and lift costs.

We will require 10 athletes to proceed.

If you plan to attend, please register online at this link.

We will need to confirm interest by the end of day on Tuesday, January 17th.

There will be coaches present at Ski Wentworth if your athletes are not planning to travel to the Mont Farlagne training camp, so long as the hill is open.

We will also be offering a free ski camp for U12 athletes at Mont Farlange during the weekend as well. While there won’t be gate training for the U12 athletes given lane space, we hope this training option will be of value to families with athletes in both age groups. A separate email will follow with details on the U12 training option.

Training & Racing Club Rules

WSRC puts a strong emphasis on athlete safety. This focus led us to develop a safety policy for the club several years ago that requires all athletes meet a minimum of three days of gate training day in a discipline before they race, as outlined on our program overview U14 and program overview U16/18/21. Our policy also indicates that it will be up to the coaches discretion to ensure athletes can race safely. If you have any questions about how this policy will impact your athlete, we ask that you direct them to coaching@wentworthracing.com to provide additional information for your child’s unique case.
