Welcome Back WSRC Families!

2023-01-01

Welcome back Wentworth Ski Race families,

The 2022-2023 season is nearly here. Once Ski Wentworth announces their opening day, we’ll be hitting the snow (details will follow very soon).

We look forward to reconnecting with old and new friends. We are excited to finally return to a regular racing schedule that showcases the dedication and hard work the athletes and coaches put into making WSRC one of the premier programs in the region.

We are also excited that we will be able to host more events than in the past two years as we bring back some of the fun club social events that provide more opportunities for athletes and families to get to know each other.

Please take a moment to read the following important updates so you can make the most of the season:

Team Building Opportunities

We will be hosting a Season Kick Off Event on January 7th, 3:30pm to 5:30pm at the Wentworth Community Centre (more details to follow).
The Saturday Clubhouse Events Series is back on the agenda. Pre-COVID this was a huge hit with WSRC members. Some of the events planned to be hosted in our WSRC Clubhouse include but will not limited to:

  • Senior team ski style scavenger hunt
  • Chocolate Bar BINGO
  • Valentine Yankee Gift swap
  • Annual Chili Cook Off (Golden Ladle Trophy is up for grabs)

Clubhouse Use

Our club size has grown greatly in the last few years. This is a testament to the fabulous parents, athletes, and coaches within our membership. In fact, we have nearly doubled in size since 2018 when we had 89 athletes to the 158 athletes we have today. We are thrilled to be able to offer our program to more athletes than ever before, but it does mean we need to find new and inventive ways to use our space and resources to accommodate all of our needs.

Our clubhouse will continue to be used to support video analysis on training days for our athletes U12 and older, including on adHoc training days and at training camps. Senior team athletes (U14 and older) who require space to get ready in the morning will also have access to the space between 7:45am and 8:15am.

Due to our limited Clubhouse space and growing membership, personal gear can not be stored in the Clubhouse but can be placed outside of the building or stored in your vehicle.

If you have any suggestions or would like to volunteer to support team building activities in the Clubhouse outside of times when it will be in use for training purposes, our two new fantastic Membership Development Directors, Susie Cooke (susieloohoo@hotmail.com) and Cynthia Peters (CynthiaBowie@hotmail.com) welcome your feedback! Our club relies on our parent volunteers to make our club the best it can be!

Raffle Box
We’ve launched our first fundraiser of the year. Our 50/50 draw is live on Raffle Box. This year we’ve added the option to choose the athlete your ticket purchase will be in support of. If you choose your athlete from the drop-down menu and proceed to the checkout page, you can then share the link to that page with your contacts and they will be directed to your athletes page to purchase tickets. Share the link and we’ll see how high the jackpot can go.

Race Schedule Change
