Weekend Prep: Responding to Today’s Provincial Announcement

2021-02-26

Good Evening WSRC Families,

In response to rising case numbers of COVID-19, the Province announced new restrictions this afternoon which will come into effect 8am Saturday, February 27 and last until March 26. In the interest of health and safety, it will be very important that all members of WSRC follow public health guidelines.

Both Ski Wentworth and WSRC will continue to operate for those living in unaffected regions of the province.

To ensure that we continue to keep our athletes, coaches, and communities safe we will be making the following adjustments to our upcoming plans:

  • Our planned Aerobics First Ski-A-Thon (Saturday, Feb. 27, 8:30 - 8:30) will continue tomorrow not as an event but as an individual challenge:
    • Athletes will participate with their consistent coach and group and will be encouraged to ski with their families following the end of official programming. They will need to track their own runs.

    • Athletes who aren’t able to join us on the hill can still participate by running or walking their laps closer to home. A kilometer will count as a run.

    • Prizes will be awarded virtually when the results have all been received.

    • Forms and donations should be submitted digitally:

  • The Slingshot Race and The Byrne Memorial Cup Race will be cancelled. However, we will explore opportunities to provide timed practices for athletes in the coming weeks so they can continue to challenge themselves.

It will be critically important that all athletes continue to complete the TeamSnap health waiver every morning before 8am, to confirm that they are not experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19.

After 8am tomorrow morning, it will also be important that athletes and families have not travelled from affected regions, which is keeping with the Ski Wentworth policy and public health guidelines.

If we are forced to close our programming at any time during the 2020/21 season due to government restrictions related to COVID-19, we will offer a pro-rated refund or pro-rated credit towards the 2021-22 season, based on the percentage of the season lost. This reconciliation will take place at the end of the season.

Refunds for any other reason are subject to the regular refund policy which can be found under "about us" and "policies" on the website.
