Early Bird Registration Ending, Dryland Training Starting, and New Options to Buy and Sell Gear

Here are a few important dates and tips to help you prepare for this year’s ski season:
 

Early Bird Registration Ends September 30th

We are thrilled with the interest so far from both new and returning athletes. If you haven’t registered yet, act soon to avoid disappointment and take advantage of our discounted rates. Registration for the season will close on November 30th.  

Join our New Facebook Buy & Sell Group

To better meet your gear needs, we’ve launched a Buy & Sell page. It’s pretty bare now - new posts welcomed.  We'll be opening up the page to other Ski Clubs in the region as well.

Eventually, we’ll decommission our Google Doc, so if you’ve posted there in the past and the item is still for sale, be sure to add it to our new page.

Race Team Ski Swap:
Tuesday, October 13th, 6:30pm 

103 Thorne Ave, Dartmouth

The swap will be hosted outside. We hope that the Facebook Buy & Sell Group will help buyers and sellers connect in advance.

If it rains, we’ll see you Thursday, October 15th, same time, same place. 

First Fall Dryland:
Saturday, October 3rd, 1:00 to 4:00pm at Wentworth

This year we are trying a new approach - dryland training will be available to all U12+ registered WSRC athletes at no additional cost!

This is a great opportunity to get athletes together for FUN dryland work-outs, and for athletes and coaches to reconnect after a summer apart.

We aim to bring a minimum of 12 athletes together (a maximum of 25) the following dates: 

• Saturday Oct 3rd

• Saturday Oct 17th

• Saturday Nov 7th

Volunteers Make a Successful Year Possible. 
Here’s How You Can Help!

It truly takes an army to run a race! There are a variety of opportunities at the home hill races for everyone to help out, ranging from food donations to race official positions.

Now is a great time to start planning your race calendar and give some thought to how you can help the club through volunteering.  

Start by marking your calendars for Wentworth hosted races, beginning with: 

• January 24th – Slingshot Race - U6/U8/U10/U12 Race @ Ski Wentworth

• February 19th, 20th & 21st - Roland Brunner 50th Annual - (U14) @ Ski Wentworth

Gate Judges Needed!
Not Sure How to Judge? We Have the Fix.

Duncan Gillis, our Director of Officials, will be hosting a Learn to Gate Judge event early in January, in coordination with the senior team. We’ll aim to provide the training in advance of the Slingshot and Brunner. Stay tuned for details. 

If the year goes as planned, Wentworth Ski Race Club will also be hosting the Byrne Memorial Cup, Club Championship, and Team Atlantic Cup events, which means lots of volunteers are needed. Contact Duncan (duncgill@gmail.com) with any volunteer or race official questions.
