WSRC Activities Update - COVID 19

WSRC is now suspending all club-sanctioned training activities until further notice.
Further to last week’s WSRC update related to COVID19, in addition to cancelling remaining race and social events, WSRC is now suspending all club-sanctioned training activities until further notice.
This is based on bulletins issued today from both ACA and Sport NS recommending this course of action.
Suspension of training also applies to on-demand ad hoc training and freelance coaching is not permitted under our club rules. We appreciate our club members’ respect for club rules.
In order to abide by the recommendations from the Chief Medical Officers from our local provinces, Sport Nova Scotia, ACA as well as Health Canada, we feel that it would not be prudent on our part to continue club-sanctioned training. The top priority, as always, must be health and safety.
As volunteers for a local sports club we never dreamed that we would be in a position where a communication such as this would be needed. Furthermore, we are not experts or health care professionals that can provide specific advice related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have reacted as quickly and efficiently as possible given the ever-evolving situation that this pandemic is presenting.
Now that the decision has been made, the Board of Directors will be reviewing the fallout from this action and give consideration as to how to mitigate the implications on our families (including a financial perspective) in the coming weeks. Further communications will follow once analysis is complete allowing decisions to be made.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we attempt to navigate through uncharted territory.
