WSRC Update - COVID 19 (Newsletter #11)

Summary of Cancellations, Etc.
Hello….when the outline of this Newsletter started a few days ago, it looked a lot different than it does now which is a reflection of how fast things are happening as government and health authorities try to manage COVID-19.
First a governance lesson...WSRC is governed by Ski NS and Alpine Canada (ACA). Ski NS is a provincial sport organization under Sport NS which is under the authority of the Province of NS and Sport Canada. As well, in the Atlantic provinces, we have the “AAA” which is Alpine Atlantic and coordinates the race calendar for Atlantic Canada and fills regional quotas at national events.
Byrne Cup was cancelled late yesterday due to receipt of a communication from ACA late in the day that effectively immediately all competitions should be cancelled. This morning we have received a notice from AAA that Farlagne is cancelled and that all national and regional competitions are cancelled.
"The AAA committee would like to advise PTSO’s, Atlantic Ski Clubs, Coaches, Parents and Athletes that all racing at the conclusion of today is cancelled for the remainder of the season due to ongoing concerns in regard to COVID-19. See the attached ACA/PTSO statement.
Training decisions can be made by individual clubs, families and athletes. We urge all involved to consider not just the health impacts on our racers, coaches and families, but for all those with whom you may come in contact.
Please pass on this communication to all of those who may be travelling or booking travel for upcoming events.
As a result of this decision, U16 Easterns at Mont Tremblant QC , U14 Can Ams at Sugarloaf USA and Whistler Cup at Whistler BC have been cancelled.
The Byrne Cup at Wentworth and the Mont Farlagne Race have also been cancelled.
The NB and Atlantic Cup winners for 2020 will be named and contacted based on the results after Marble Mountain."

Due to all of the above, WSRC is taking the following course of action:
1 – The Club Championships and End of Season Social Event on March 28th are both cancelled.
2 – Effectively immediately, gatherings in the clubhouse are cancelled for both athletes and coaches. WSRC will be closing the clubhouse and members have until the end of day tomorrow to remove their belongings. If you have any specific concerns with regards to this, please contact our Program Coordinator.
Right now, training will continue. We are training today and hope to train tomorrow but will advise as soon as possible as things change.
Raffle Tickets: The draw is scheduled for MArch 28th. Please deposit your raffle tickets in the box beside the club notice board at Ski WW. Alternatively, you can mail them to 9 Rosemount Ave, Halifax, NS B3N 1X9
