Thank you’s this week…..the Roland Brunner Race (obviously!!)…. Thank you’s this week…..the Roland Brunner Race (obviously!!)…. Thank you to all the amazing people that helped out with the Roland Brunner last weekend. A big shout out to the officials group; Jennifer Havill, Brian Carter, Tim Harmon, Lisa Harmon, Mark Oakley, Brian Todd, Peter Henderson, Leslie Henderson, Erika Jones, Tim Hilton, Sally Rollings, Janice Faulkner, and Murray Pridham.

Thank you to the WSRC army of volunteers that helped out with setting up, course slipping, gate judging, scribing, timing, food donations (list is really too long to list)...your efforts were impressive and made this a truly successful event.

This coming weekend we need volunteers for gate keeping or course crew at the Poley Mountain away race.

The club championships are just around the corner, still some volunteer opportunities. This event also presents a fantastic opportunity to learn about the various race jobs, while shadowing someone with experience ... all interested please email Duncan.

This Weekend:
  • Poley Race is taking place and 15 WSRC athletes along with Sarah, Luke and Lexi are attending.
Next Weekend: 
  • Club Championships Race during program hours Saturday March 30th.
  • End of Season Social, 3-5pm at the Wentworth Rec Centre. Bring an appetizer. Cash Bar.
  • Make-up day, Sunday March 31st. RSVP is required by March 24 so we know who to expect and can plan coach resources accordingly: http://evite.me/hFzJtrqccb
Raffle Reminder – Drop your raffle tickets off at the mailbox in the entrance of the lodge beside our notice board before March 30th. The draw for the prizes will be at the End of Season Social on Saturday, March 30th, 3-5pm.

Jacket Holiday - This year we will not be taking orders for new team jackets. Next year we will be introducing a new team jacket; so in order to give everyone more value and use out of their current jacket, we will be taking a jacket holiday this year.

End of Year Clubhouse Cleanout: Please remove all your belongings from the clubhouse by March 30th. Anything remaining will be removed and disposed of on March 31st. No one is to leave belongings in the clubhouse over the off season

ACA Annual Awards are open. This includes a number of categories including Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, etc. Nominations and voting close April 15th. See: https://alpinecanada.org/awards

Got old skis or snowboards? Donate them to a worthy cause! 16-year old provincial snowboarder Marnie O’Brien has created a fundraiser to support her snowboarding efforts by transforming it into furniture. Contact 902-476-9807 to get rid of your old junk.

WSRC in the Media…the latest issue of Sport Quarterly, a publication that Sport Nova Scotia produces and delivers to over 25k select households throughout the Province includes great pictures and highlights of Brenda Macdonald CWG silver medalist and Shane Sommer CWG gold medallist. You’ll see a fantastic profile of the Ingonish Trust, Cape Smokey and the skiing community in Cape Breton! Athletes’ Corner

Kudos to Jason Havill for doing an impressive job of tidying up the “big kid” end of the Clubhouse last week (!!)

Congratulations to WSRC Athlete Emily Todd and MSRC athlete Shane Sommer for winning the 2019 Roland Brunner!

Kate Childs, Lily Oakley, Severn Parsons and Stephen Cramm are 4 of the 10 athletes from Atlantic Canada heading to the U14 Canam’s in Tremblant next weekend. Grant Keefe will head to the U16 Canams at Calaboogie Peaks in Ontario. Good luck to all!

FIS Racer JD Todd just finished up today at Norams in Sugarloaf with a competitive field including the US Ski Team (!!). He will then head back to Quebec for the U19 National Championships. Good luck JD!!
