Staffing Updates

We regretfully wish Leigha Henderson good luck as she pursues new endeavours more suited to her field of study in University.  We welcome back WSRC alumni Connor Myers into our coaching staff.

In February, while Coach Luke attends the Canada Winter Games with the Nova Scotia Alpine Ski Racing team, we will have a guest coach:  Laura Vlahovic.

Laura grew up on the shores of Georgian Bay in Collingwood, Ontario, learning to ski and race at Toronto Ski Club and the National Ski Academy. She retired from ski racing at 18, after 3 years of FIS, at which time she segued from athlete to coach and moved on to pursue her education and other athletic endeavours. She attended the University of Toronto studying Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology, competing on both the varsity tennis and squash teams; seeing 3 OUA Championship titles.

Over the last 12 years, she has worked as a competitive coach in ski racing, tennis, and sailing. Her coaching goals include igniting a passion for skiing in the athletes she works with, and to always maintain an athlete-centered and interactive environment.

Volunteering – Sign-Up Genius is up!!!

This in from WSRC Dad & Volunteer Coordinator, Duncan Gillis….

Hi everyone, hopefully your child/children have settled into their ski boots and are enjoying the program to date.  The volunteer program is up and running and ready for you.  We have updated the signup genius with the events and needs in the 2019 calendar.  Please take a few minutes to find a job that suites your ski plans for the year, the signup genius can be found in the parent page (under the volunteer button) on the web site (http://wentworthracing.com/page.php?page_id=92112).

For the u-12 and older parents please remember that this is your opportunity to earn back your pre-paid volunteer dollars while for the u-10 and u-8 parents volunteering is a great way to get involved with your skier’s events and or learn about the sport of downhill skiing.

Any questions about a volunteer position or any issues with a signup (like you committed but can’t make it or signed up for the wrong thing) please feel free to email me at duncgill@gmail.com.

Thanks for thanking the time to read this email and to browse the signup genius options.

See you on the slopes!
