Greetings from Snowy Quebec!

We've been running our Fall Camps at Mont Ste Anne and enjoying lots of the white stuff. Meanwhile, we are very excited about start of season at home and the early opening of Wentworth.

Some Housekeeping items:

1 - Start of Programs
The start of programs is typically the first weekend after New Years. Since New Years is on a weekend this year, our first weekend of programs is the following weekend on January 7/8.
  • U10’s meet at 9:25am in front of the lodge. (ski 9:30-11:30, unsupervised lunch from 11:30-12:30, then meet again at lodge at 12:30 and then pick-up at 2:30)
  • U12’s meet at 8:55am in front of the lodge. . (ski 9:30-11:30, unsupervised lunch from 11:30-12:30, then meet again at lodge at 12:30 and then pick-up at 2:30)
  • U14 & Up meet at the trailer at 8:30, unsupervised lunch 11:30-12:30 and train until 3:30pm

2 - Christmas Camp
  • Our Christmas Camp is in advance of the season and will run December 27-31.
  • This camp is open to all regular program registrants who are members in good standing of WSRC.
  • There is no additional cost for the Christmas Camp, but you are required to register for this event so that adequate coaching resources can be planned. Registration is now open under Registration on our Website.
  • The deadline for registration for this camp is December 24, 2016.
  • Participants are encouraged to attend the entire camp.
  • Attendance for the first day is mandatory.
  • If you are unable to attend the entire camp, we ask that you start on day one and do consecutive days only.i.e. - one day is day one, two days is the first two days, etc.
  • Please note that program fees allow for the budget of a group Christmas Camp to be run every year. Only in the event of hill closure and decision of the Club Board, will the camp included in the fees be run in March. Otherwise, the March Break Camp is subject to additional fees regardless of whether you’ve chosen to participate in the Christmas Camp.

3 - Farlagne Tech Camp
  • There is a Ski NB Tech Camp at Farlagne January 3-5.
  • Registration for this event can be done under Registration on our Website.
  • Participants have to be 9 years old and over.
  • The cost is $461 which includes estimated coaching expenses.
  • This is based on groups of 6 athletes.
  • We may decline attendance to some or all athletes on a first-come first-serve basis if the athlete to coach ratio is unacceptable (6:1)
  • Alternatively, if there is enough interest, we can run a camp at Wentworth for considerably less cost on the same dates. Contact me, Gregor Byrne, at coaching@wentworthracing.com to advise your preference.

4 - Farlagne Race
  • This is scheduled for three days, January 6-8.
  • Registration for this event will not be posted until the Notice of Race is available from the race Organizing Committee. Registration on our website and prepayment by visa will be required. We will send a notice when registration is available.
  • Due to athlete safety concerns, we cannot enter athletes at any race without appropriate training as deemed by the coaching staff. In the case of this year’s Farlagne race, minimum 2 days GS and 2 days slalom training is required.
  • This race is open to U10’s.
  • We have a group booking at Travelodge in Edmundston, so make your reservation.
5 - Parent Meetings
  • Because a number of our coaching staff, athletes and parents will be away the weekend of January 7/8, we will have U10 & U12 Parent Meetings on Saturday and Sunday, January 14 & 15 in the Port Greville Room at 12:30pm.
  • We will introduce the program, our goals, the racing opportunities, answer any questions. You can meet the Program Coordinator, the Board President and the U10 & 12 Parent Representatives.
  • Parent Meetings for older age groups were held in November.

  • Registration is on-going and so is the formation of groups and coach assignments.
  • Groups will be posted on the website by January 5th.
  • A notice will be sent advising that they are available for viewing.
