TEAM ATLANTIC’S 2023 WSRC MSA FALL CAMP ONE DESCRIPTION
CAMP ONE – Monday DEC 2nd to Sunday DEC 8th
Run by Team Atlantic, put on by WSRC, Fall Camp One is a seven-day High Performance / High Intensity Training opportunity.
The first two days of the Camp are spent doing Structured Free Skiing drills and Exercises getting the athletes back to balance on their skis again. The next 5 days are spent on our own training lanes working thru Drill Sets as well as Partial and Full Course sets. The High-Speed Quad chairlift on the back side of MSA allows for incredible numbers of laps for our athletes.
WSRC Fall Camp One is for athletes from U16 to U19. This Camp is for those athletes who want to do MORE. We have been offering this training opportunity for 9 years now and have observed some great results from highly motivated athletes who add another 7 days to their Pre-Season Training regimen.
It is a jump start to the season for these athletes and is Seven Days of intensive training with high-level Coaching and low Athlete / Coach ratio numbers. This Camp represents the starting point to their season and with that we try to instil good training habits:
Mental Training Routine
- Introduce athletes (who do not already train daily) to the idea of DAILY Mental Training.
- Develop basic Mental Training Goals for the season.
- Develop basic Seasonal Training and Racing Mental Plans
- Develop a personal Positive Self-Talk vocabulary for each Athlete.
- To learn to keep Daily Training Journals.
Nutritional and Hydration Routine
- Introduce athletes to Nutritional needs for training days VS racing days.
- Understanding Foods/Drinks that will provide the necessary energy.
- Establishing Nutritional Goals for Training and Racing.
- Before and after training each day
- To develop an understanding as to the exercises important for optimal performance.
- Develop Dry-land Goals for the season.
On-Snow Training Routine
- To Focus on Training Goals for the session.
- To put in Max Effort each session with regard to established Session Goals.
- To Work with Coaching staff focusing on positive changes and improvements that are based in the use of external cues.
- To keep up with Hydration, Nutritional and Rest needs over the course of the training session.
Equipment Maintenance Routine
- Knowing and understanding their ski racing equipment – Functionality as well as maintenance requirements and care for optimal performance.
- Develop a ski tuning routine to carry forward for the course of the season.
- Understanding proper boot set-up. This is the time/place to get their boots perfect for the season.
At the completion of this Camp Athletes will be set up for the coming season of racing and training. They will have the beginnings of a daily Mental routine, Dryland Routine, Nutritional Plan as well as self-reliance and responsibility for both their successes and failures – Learning from both as they move forward each day. They will have a Processed based Plan for the season to look to each training session and to review with their coaches.
The Athletes live, train and work close to each other and coaches for the duration of this Camp. The close proximity immerses the group in Ski Racing all day every day for the week. They make friendships that will outlast their ski racing careers as well as having access to their coaches 24 / 7.
By the end of Camp One it is hard for the participating Athletes (as well as the Coaches) to leave the group – But they have made connections that will long outlast this Camp, this season and their Ski Racing careers.
